The Education Department of the Yitzhak Rabin Center offers an array of educational programs working with youth, soldiers and students; seminars and workshops for teachers and educators; and materials and activities for the National Memorial Day for schools and IDF bases across the country.
The department works with students, both in the formal and informal Israeli educational system; soldiers, border guards, Israeli police and commanders of the Israel Defense Force (IDF); emissaries of Jewish communities from abroad; and foreign youth delegations visiting Israel and the Yitzhak Rabin Center.
The nature of the educational activities of the Yitzhak Rabin Center are based in:
- Open dialogue. The ongoing discussion of the core issues of Israeli society is drawn from Rabin’s assassination - both the social and political circumstances that preceded the assassination as well as the implications of and lessons from the assassination that must continually be learned.
- Experiential programs. Varied methodological tools: use of unique film footage produced by the Yitzhak Rabin Center, group dynamic sessions and open discussions that accompany each and every workshop.
- Integration of theoretical discussions with practical implementation. The workshops place special emphasis on connecting skills, practical tools and topics discussed relevant to the civil and professional lives of the students, educators, soldiers or commanders who participates in our programs.
All educational activities are led by Rabin Center staff and trained facilitators with significant professional experience and academic degrees in a rich variety of disciplines.
The goals of the Education Department are:
-
Positioning Yitzhak Rabin as the model of responsible, fair and innovative leadership in the fields of civil society, security and the quest for peace.
-
Basing Israeli civil society on human rights, social cohesion, democratic values and the rule of law.
-
Advancing the well-being and unification of the Jewish people, in light of the danger of violent disagreement and internal conflict evidenced by the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.
